Dental Assistant Schools Florida

Dental assistant schools in Florida are swimming in cavities - literally. Patients can come in and get their teeth cleaned and cavities filled for free. This has thankfully caused no small number of people to be attentive to their oral care, reversing a long epidemic of curies (cavities) affecting the teeth. But did you know that fluoride in the water does not prevent cavities? That's no lie. Edwin, a curies sleuth ever since one of his teeth had been pulled, has become the counties number one person for contacting dental schools and telling the assistants that fluorinated water is a waste of time and tax payer's money. It is actually a way for the chemical industry to dispose of its chemical fluoride waste across every city in Florida.

While cities are continually switching to water fluoridation, Edwin goes from school to school in Florida, talking to the assistants about the fluorine and preventative oral care. Of course, he gets his teeth x-rayed and fixed, too. The female students like him because he's a good-looking guy with a nice smile. They lean him back in the big cushy chair and work on his teeth with their dental instruments. The hygienist tries to remove all the scale and plaque to make sure that he doesn't lose any more teeth and end up with a big ugly smile. While a dental assistant watches, instructors who are licensed dentists pass by and look over their shoulders while admiring Edwin's pearly grin.

The students are happy they made a list of accredited dental schools that were licensed by the state of Florida. Pell grants will pay for most, if not all, tuition at the schools. On this particular day, as the students learn assistant procedures, Edwin talks to them endlessly about fluoride. He tells them that fluoride only strengthens teeth against cavities when it is applied topically. He explains that consuming it orally does not cause it to reach the teeth were it is affective. A radiologist over hears him talking and comments that it is an amazing thing for Florida government officials to have been hoodwinked. Even the records and invoices clerk, who also learned her job at a dental school, is interested in what he is saying.

The dental assistant who is helping the hygienist says the Commission on Dental Accreditation is recognized by the US Department of Education as the national accrediting body for dental education. She tells them that she will soon be getting her certificate as a dental assistant. The hygienist goes on to explain that the Florida Board of Dentistry requires exams of dentists and hygienists, but an assistant only needs a certificate. She also says the board requires that if the assistant passes a course provided by a Florida school, that the school must be approved by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation. The course also has to be approved by the board.
